LAVID's history

Created in 2003, the Laboratory for Applications of Digital Video (LAVID) is integrated into the Department of Informatics (DI) of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB). The lab grew out of proposals to develop research projects in hardware and software geared to the areas of Digital Video, Computer Networks, Digital TV and Interactive and Middleware.

Currently LAVID is a reference for national and international development of technology for Digital TV. The LAVID with the collaboration of over 40 young researchers, including doctors, teachers and students, which are interconnected with researchers from all over Brazil and the world, bringing the current global technological trends in the areas of video and digital TV.

The research undertaken are carried out in partnership with other universities, research institutes and private companies. Being an active lab in the development area, receives funding from partner institutions like the National Education and Research Network (RNP), financier of Studies and Projects (FINEP) and National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq).

Historico

Besides the scientific work, researchers at the LAVID are involved in academic activities. Under the UFPB, activities related to Bachelor of Computer Science and Graduate Program in Computer Science. The result of this synergy between teachers and academics can be seen in the group's strong participation in events, national and international publications and patents that disclose the production's technical and scientific LAVID.

The LAVID is also committed to its social role. The counterpart of the laboratory to the community occurs through social activities which disseminate knowledge produced in the laboratory and contribute effectively to the promotion of digital inclusion.
