The associated labs are responsible for the management of the projects listed below:

HiTV

HiTV is a member project of the Support Program to Research, Development,and Information Technology Innovation that has the role of developing hardware and software for use in high-definition digital television systems. Dr. Guido Lemos (DI/UFPB) serves as the project's general coordinator and Dr. Jorge Frenandes (DIMAp/UFRN) as vice-coordinator. The project depends on the expertise and time of 60 people, including professionals, students, and researchers.

ICSPace

ICSpace (Internet Cultural Space) provides a new publication vehicle which artist can use to divulge their creations. This will be possible with the construction of an Internet accessible virtual reality environment where artistic manifestation will be placed on exhibit. This project is coordinated by Dr. Guido Lemos (DI/UFPB).

InfraVida

The InfraVida project aims to develop and implement a video conferencing system designed for the medical community. Its main purpose will be to facilitate acquisition of second opinions.

I2TV

The I2TV project encourages the formation of a consortium whose members are involved in the development and testing of applications and tools for interactive TV within the Internet2 environment. Current consortium members include the universities UFRN, PUC-Rio, USP-SP and UFSC and the television stations TVU-RN, TVE-RJ, TV Cultura-SP, and TV Cultura-SC. The project is centered around the three components essential to broadband, interactive applications: content generation, temporal exhibitors (formatters) housed in set-top boxes, and the underlying distribution systems/networks.

GTVD

The Digital Video Working Group's (GTVD) purpose is to implement an infrastructure, throughout the RNP2 network, that provides support for digital video manipulation applications. This will spurn the development of innovative digital video applications that can exploit the potential offered by regional high-performance networks. The GTVD also provides recommendations to the Brazilian Internet2 initiative and represents the country in forums and international standards discussions.

» RNP colaborers attended an Internet2 meeting

The RNP´s inovation directo, Michael Stanton, attended the Internet2 Member Meeting, that happens in April, at the United States. He presented the context in which optical communications became the center of new research and education networks.

» UFRJ and UFPB students debate through videoconference

On July 22nd, the RJ University Channel (UTV) will broadcast the debate about educational policies, promoted by Canal Saude, which had the participation of the RNP.
